Centre Stage
Centre Stage is a musical talent competition open to secondary schools and colleges across West Yorkshire. The winners will follow in the footsteps of idols such as Metallica and Radiohead, playing on stage at Leeds and Reading Festivals - they will also win time in a professional recording studio.
As well as hoping to discover pop or rock stars of the future, the contest will raise funds for the city's Martin House Children's Hospice, which cares for youngsters with life-limiting illnesses.
More than 160 schools and colleges across West Yorkshire have been invited to enter Centre Stage 2011. Each will hold their own internal heats or simply put a talented act forward, with money raised going to Martin House - then the finalists will come together to play in front of an audience of music industry professionals in a Grand Final in July 2011, at O2 Academy, Leeds, once more.
The top prize of playing at BOTH the Leeds and Reading Festivals 2011 was kindly donated by the promoters of the events, Festival Republic.
