The Red Pills are a Leeds based rock/punk band who took their name from a scene in the movie 'The Matrix', in which Keanu Reeves' character 'Neo' is offered a choice of red and blue pills. If he takes the red pill, he'll discover the reality of the world, a difficult truth. If he takes the blue pill, he can continue to live a cosy, comfortable lie.
The band had a great year in 2009, coming second in the Yorkshire Battle of the Bands, meeting Sylvester McCoy in Manchester and getting their names in lights in the Yorkshire Evening Post and on the BBC website.
2010 has started well with the release of their second EP "Missiles" and an accompanying tour, not to mention getting a part in soon-to-be-BBC-bound TV drama 'Svengali', filming in 2010.
The Red Pills are Tom Hey (Vocals), Nick Shakhlevich (Guitar), Freddie Ray (Bass), Jimmy G. (Drums)
They are strongly against pay-to-play gigs, describing them as "the bane of our existence and that of every hard-working unsigned band".
The Red Pills' Vocalist, Tom Hey, has designed the Leeds Festival Fringe logo.
The Red Pills are hosting a night on Tuesday 24th August at Carpe Diem
